To a devastating extent, the pursuit of material wealth has nullified our reverence for the natural world around us. The more successfully corporate interests abstract our relationship to other creatures and to our planet’s most precious resources (water, forests), the less we feel as we recklessly exploit them for entertainment, food or sport.
As the basis for my recent imagery I have borrowed a strategy from the marketing engine of corporate culture itself, reducing the earth’s natural riches to flattened, cartoon abstractions. Bright colors and whimsical stylization distract from the abject truth of the narrative itself…Is this Our True Nature?
